Link Budget
A link budget commonly refers to the complete gain and loss equation from the transmitter, through the ambient medium (air, cable, waveguide, fiber, etc.) and through to the receiver.
Calculation
The received power will be equal to all the gain in the link minus the losses in the link (FSL and Cable loss)
Prx = Ptx + Gtx + Grx - FSL - CL
Where:
Prx = Reciever power
Gtx = Transmitter antenna gain
Grx = Reciever antenna gain
FSL = Free Space Loss
CL = Cable Loss
Simulation
With Link budget Simulation you can change the transmission power ,distance(By dragging), cable loss and gains to see what effect they have on reciever signal power.
