What is transmission time?

Transmission time is the amount of time it takes for a transmission device (E.g. modem ) to transmit bits. Transmission time + propagation speed is the amount of time it takes for a bit to reach from source to its destination.

How to calculate transmission time?

Transmission time can be calculated from the packet size and the network bandwidth

Transmission Time= Packet size/ bandwidth
